Spring into Spring Fair
Sunday, June 5th
PS 87’s annual Spring Street Fair is a little over one month away and we need your help! Spring Fair is the final FUNdraiser of the year. We close the block of 77th Street, transform our Big Yard, and share our community spirit with rides, games, arts and crafts, food, books, street vendors, and maybe even a little music. The Green Team is once again adding its eco-friendly creativity, and we are teaming up with sponsors, Spring Lake Camp and the JCC, to provide additional activities.
There are a number of ways to help, but most importantly, contact your Class Parent or Spring Fair Liaison to sign up for a volunteer shift or two. Kids are encouraged to work with you, as the fair only succeeds if we all contribute. If you can spare a few hours, love to bake, show off your brawn, or want to get rid of the books that are collecting dust, please click here!
Become a Vendor at the PS 87 Spring Fair, June 5th 12-5pm
Each year, our school fair attracts thousands of people—local families and a few tourists—looking for an exciting way to spend a sunny spring day. The event features family-friendly activities, crafts, games, bouncy rides, and lots more fun. Our school is located in the heart of the Upper West Side across the street from the American Museum of Natural History and just two blocks off Central Park.
This event is an excellent opportunity to sell family-friendly products and market your services to our parent community (school population 1,000+). To become a vendor CLICK HERE!
The Spring Art Show is around the corner!
Our talented PS 87 K-3 artists need parent volunteers to help make this year's Art Show a smash hit!

School Leadership Team Openings
The PS 87 School Leadership Team (SLT) anticipates having three open seats for parent members. Members will serve a two-year position, from Fall 2016 to Spring 2018. The SLT offers parents the opportunity to meet with faculty and administrators, and to participate in policy development and shared decision-making. SLT members attend monthly meetings and subcommittee meetings. Nominations may be taken from the floor on voting day, but we encourage interested parents to inquire in advance. If you would like to run or have any questions then don't be shy!
E-mail SLT Parent Chair Emma Paske: email@example.com
The election will take place at the last PA meeting on June 16 so please get any applications in before then.
Margaret Lerner, our beloved parent coordinator, was a passionate and respected member of the PS 87 community. PS 87 was a big part of Margaret's life and to know her was to love her. To honor her memory, we will be creating a reading garden outside her office to be enjoyed by students.
